I’m just a practical girl
I’d like to think I’m a girly girl, but I’m not. I love pretty things and especially shiny objects but I rarely take the time for pretty things. Even before I had my son I didn’t wear makeup very often and only occasionally did my nails. I typically went to a nail salon once or twice a year to get a pedicure. I wanted my feet to look as good as they could before sandal season. Don’t get me wrong, I love pedicures and manicures but I’m too practical for those things. I just couldn’t allow myself to spend money on those items on a regular basis. I’d rather spend money on organic food, cleaning supplies and toiletries, especially my lip balm (I can admit that I’m addicted!).
I started using some organic products before I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism but I got a little more serious about organics after my diagnosis. With my diagnosis came educating myself which led me to change my lifestyle. I not only want to try and live as long as possible, I want to feel good while I am alive. Don’t you?
Organic for my well being
Anyone who has ever bought anything organic knows it can come with a hefty price tag. Especially toiletries, beauty products and cleaning items. My sensible side kicked in and I started making some of my own products (thank you Pinterest!). I really like doing it too and I even made some for friends. My husband called it my “chemical factory” which was ironic because I was making these items to stay away from chemicals.
Many of my homemade items use essential oils for fragrances or to amplify the cleaning ability. I was using oils I got at retail stores. Then a friend of mine started selling Young Living oils.
I believe everyone needs a good disinfectant that isn’t full of unhealthy ingredients. I had found a great website where a biochemist, who’s also a mother to three kids, does experiments on different items that kill germs, including essential oils. Thieves oil from Young Living did really well in her experiments so of course I wanted some. I had been making my own version from a recipe I found online. As a mom though I’m always running out of time and had run out of my concoction. Even with the cost I decided to order it and I love it. Here is some information from Young Living’s website about Thieves oil in case you don’t know what it is.
A little help from my friend, Jenn
Thanks to Jenn I have been a little more educated on how essential oils can help keep me and my family healthy. Not only does she work with essential oils, she’s a stay-at-home mom to three boys and she’s been a big support to me since my son was born. So much that I don’t have time to mention it all. I can say that my son loves her whole family and so do my husband and I.
If you are interested in essential oils she offers workshops where you learn about them and also do hands-on projects. If you would like to purchase any oils from her please find her on Instagram @oils4akrazylife or directly through Young Living (her id #’s are on the bottom right).
